Mentorship Program

As a photographic educator Carlan’s early experiences studying with master photography mentors including Ansel Adams, Paul Caponigro, John Szarkowski, and Roy DeCarava shaped his appreciation and understanding of the importance of mentorships. Today, as a mentor with the Santa Fe Photographic Workshops, Carlan carries forward the tradition of mentor as “trusted teacher”.  His belief in working with students is to guide them along the path to open their vision to their own true photographic voice.  Personal expression, project development, portfolio creation, technical understanding of the craft of photography are some of the directions in which Carlan has worked with past students.  During the mentoring sessions students take the time to explore, discover, and fully express their personal photographic vision and voice.   It is Carlan’s focus in his mentoring that each of his students achieves their personal photographic goals. If you are interested in a mentorship with Carlan, the first step is to contact Reid Callanan at the Santa Fe Photographic Workshops at 505.983.1400 x15.
